A couple of weekends ago we were down South celebrating Easter with the family.
We walked along ‘Sandbanks’ from the main car park to the chain ferry – where a few decades ago Dad had so confidently showed Sam and I how to dismount from a trampoline. It didn’t end well, at all. Unfortunately, he landed slap bang in the corner between the rubber bungees and metal surround – ouch! The outcome then was some very sore ribs, a bruised ego and an indelible moment in the family’s history.
On this occasion we wrote a happier chapter, but no less memorable than the trampoline incident!
A Classic Surprise
We finished our walk and headed for ‘The Anchorage’ – a restaurant high on the hill overlooking Poole Harbour – for a delicious meal. As planned, during the proceedings we had a little surprise…
Dad, along with Sam, Chris and I presented Freddie with his 21st birthday gift – a Longines Master Automatic Men’s Watch. A classic and it looks stunning on his wrist too!
This watch completes three generations of Herd family members owning a Longines timepiece in their 21st year – starting with Dad in 1956, myself in 1989 and now Freddie in 2023.
