Colley Ison
Art Collector’s Art Presentation Box
The Brief
To create an elegant, handcrafted presentation box for distinguished clients of Colley Ison Gallery, offering them a sophisticated and lasting way to archive reference materials of their collected artworks. The box needed to be aesthetically pleasing enough to be on display in a home/workplace, whilst also being durable and functional for long-term use.

KEY INSPIRATION
Inspired by traditional fine art folios and archival storage used in museums and private collections, the box evokes timeless craftsmanship. The textured charcoal buckram covering and inset corporate logo reflect the gallery’s prestige and artistic heritage.
CHALLENGES
Sourcing materials that were both luxurious and durable enough to protect delicate documents over time was a critical consideration. Precision in hand-crafting the inset logo and ensuring a seamless clamshell closure demanded exceptional attention to detail.
Lessons Learnt
Refined luxury is found in simplicity and meticulous craftsmanship. Minimalist design, paired with high-quality materials and subtle branding, can elevate a functional object into a work of art in itself. These elements resonate strongly with discerning art collectors.

THE BOX
Handcrafted clamshell-style art presentation box, covered in charcoal buckram textured material, with the Colley Ison corporate logo inset into the cover. Clients with an extensive collection of art, procured from this renowned Birmingham gallery, are given this luxurious box to store reference material of their art pieces and have out on show for art connoisseurs to enjoy.
THE OUTCOME
The final presentation box was met with acclaim by Colley Ison’s clientele. It not only served its archival purpose, but also enhanced the overall collector experience, acting as a tactile and visual representation of the gallery’s commitment to excellence.
” Our collectors are genuinely moved by the thoughtfulness and elegance of the box. It beautifully captures the passion and precision that we place on every piece of art we curate. It’s proved to be a treasured symbol of their connection to our gallery.”
